NYC psychotherapist Colette Dowling, LMSW, is an internationally renowned writer and lecturer and is best known for uncovering women's psychological conflicts with independence in her best-selling The Cinderella Complex, which was published in the 80s and translated into 23 languages. She has a private practice in Manhattan and specializes in the treatment of women.
Other books Colette Dowling has written are "You Mean I Don't Have to Feel This Way?": New Help for Depression, Anxiety and Addiction(the first book for the lay reader about the biological underpinnings of mood changes )and The Frailty Myth, which describes the psychological effect on women of having been historically discouraged from developing the full strength of their bodies.
Colette's articles have appeared in most major magazines, including The New York Times Magazine, New York and Harper’s. Her profile of Toni Morrison, published in The N.Y. Times Magazine, has been anthologized. Reviews of her books have appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, and The New York Review of Books. She is a member of The Author's Guild.

Colette Dowling, LMSW, is a graduate of The Smith College School for Social Work, where she received her MSW degree, and has done advanced training at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, in New York. She is a licensed social worker and a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
